With costs going up for all the international airlines, it seems that the odds of getting cheap international flights to Asia at the last minute are very slim. If at all there is a cheap air fare, you can be sure it will be snapped up quickly; most likely on the first hour of the first day itself. Deals are available, but last minute deals are rare. Airlines are encouraging people to book in advance through discounted offers and very often cheap international flights to Asia are available a couple of months in advance. Airline budgets are getting tighter and the number of flights going out to destinations is being reduced to maximize profit.

In general, booking early will get you a good deal; booking a summer flight in January or February will be far less costly than booking the same flight in March or April. With the reduction in capacity, half empty planes are becoming less and less common. This means that the chance of snapping up a last minute deal is low. However, you should never say never. In the event that you cannot find cheap international flights to Asia, one of the options you can explore when travelling in Asia is the low cost carriers that operate within the major hubs in the region. Singapore’s Changi Airport could be considered a hub for many of the major air carriers, much like Atlanta in the United States.

There are many low cost, no frills airlines around the world. However, they mostly operate in a given region and rarely travel between continents. This means that even if you cannot find cheap international flights to Asia, you can still avail of bargain prices on domestic flights between the cities of the same country. Some low cost carriers will also operate between Asian countries.

If you are travelling around Asia, it might be an idea to consider booking flights on the low cost carriers between the countries that you intend visiting. Long haul flights offered by low cost airlines are only now being introduced between London and some parts of Southeast Asia. However, travel between south eastern Asian countries such as Singapore and Vietnam can be accomplished relying mainly on the low cost air carriers. There are also a handful of domestic airlines operating in Asian countries.

Vietnamese fine art is finally coming out of the closet to present itself in its full glory before a wider audience. The growth of interest and the rise in popular enthusiasm about Vietnamese fine art have been truly phenomenal in the past few years. The last decade, especially, has witnessed a dramatic growth in the number of people world-wide taking an enormous deal of interest in Vietnamese fine art. It is safe to assume now that Vietnamese fine art has finally come of age and is ready to go truly international.

The contemporary art scene of Vietnam is buzzing with activity, and is vibrant like never before. This is to be attributed not only to strong commercial considerations, but also to the commitment of artists and dealers to create and promote quality work. One cannot help but wonder in awe when one looks upon the radical metamorphosis of Vietnamese art over the last few years. Less than a decade ago, contemporary Vietnamese fine art and artists had negligible presence in their own country and virtually none on the international art scene. Yet, in 1993, eminent art critic and accomplished painter Ca Le Thang wrote in the popular art journal My Thuat, “In 1992 a total of 130 groups and one man exhibitions were opened in Ho Chi Minh City, featuring works by local (Vietnamese) artists… and even (artists) from overseas. Over 5,500 works created by more than 200 artists were exhibited in 25 different locations; attendance numbers rose to over 400,000.”

Vietnamese fine art, since then, has only grown from strength to strength with every passing year. A closer look at this phenomenon reveals that it is not just the profile and status of the nation’s art and artists that have grown in strength. The change is also evident in the quality of the art and in the scope of its representation through local, regional and international galleries and museums.

Local galleries and museums have a major role to play in the growing popularity of Vietnamese fine art. They are the main driving factor behind the increasing popular enthusiasm and the commercial success of fine art in Vietnam. Such galleries are virtually countless in cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hue. Some are nothing more than mere shops selling paintings. In the major cities, about 50 of these galleries can be deemed professional. They deal in a wide variety of local art, ranging from highly popular landscape and figurative work to abstract and experimental work in lacquer and other mediums. The range of variety to be noticed in Vietnamese fine art by gazing upon these paintings is truly amazing.

There are actually a plethora of exporters located within India and the surrounding areas. Many of their products go overseas, such as to the United States and many places throughout Europe. Chances are that you have seen at least a few products that you use on a daily basis that have the label, “Made in India,” or something written on a sticker label to that effect. Indeed, plenty of retailers choose India exporters as their primary place of trading and deals since there is inexpensive labor available as well as plenty of products to choose from and sell.

India exporters have literally thousands of items to choose from, if you are a retail organization that needs to find products to sell. There are India exporters that specialize in everything from baby products all the way to furniture, toys, and hand tools. When a company outside of India decides that they need to find a new product line or a way to purchase things cheaper for their customers, these companies will often choose to look within India’s borders for specific exporting companies that are able to produce the things that they want. On the other hand, this type of labor or production can often be contracted out to exporters within India for a small price, if desired.

Another reason why exporters from India are used is because they are often so much less expensive than those located right inside one’s own country. For example, United States’ retailers often choose to import products from India’s exporters simply because they can increase their profit while giving the exporting companies their business as well! In addition, the products that can be purchased from India are usually of the same or nearly the same quality as those wholesalers located right in the United States.

Exporting products from India also gives the upper hand to consumers as well. Since retailers are paying a small price for the things they import, those cheap prices are passed along to the consumer! In essence, exporting from India is a win-win situation for everyone: the India exporter benefits, the retailer benefits, and the consumer benefits because he or she is able to pay low prices for the items that are bought! Even though there are some who advise not to export products from India because of the “risks” that supposedly exist, plenty of individuals, businesses, and India exporting customers have found that the transactions go smoothly and the products that are bought and sold are of good quality as well!

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is located in Hanoi, and this is where the great Ho Chi Minh is entombed. It is very strict here, so one should follow the rules of no talking or loud noises and no photo taking once inside the mausoleum. If you found the solemnity in the mausoleum too stifling, then the museum can take some of that feeling away. Here, you will get to see photos and old letters during the time of Ho Chi Minh. Just do not mind some of the gruesome pictures of the war though.

After the museum, you can visit Ho Chi Minh’s vestige. This is where the great man lived and worked. You will also get to see here the houses where he lived in, which are always kept clean as the day he died. One-Pillar Pagoda is a short walk from the mausoleum and the museum of Ho Chi Minh. It is also one of the must-see destinations in Vietnam. Watch out though as the grounds can be crowded with a lot of tourists at one time.

Hoan Kiem Lake is a relaxing place to be if you want a quiet time alone. In this park, you can have a leisurely stroll with your loved one. You can also visit the Ngoc Son Temple in this park, which is a good source for Vietnamese history and culture, among which is the story of the giant turtle that is said to inhabit the lake.

Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre is a nice way to spend the day with your family. The theatre tells of Vietnamese history and legends through the use of wooden figures representing men and women and the ever-present dragons. The story is told through music and the puppets dancing.

For a completely unique experience, you should visit the floating markets of Can Tho. You can also take a tour of the area by renting a boat. Some of the floating markets are Cai Rang (sells wholesales mainly), Phong Dien (for retails), Phung Hiep and Tra On.

If you want to go boat riding, then you should visit Ho Xuan Huong, which is also called Xuan Huong Lake. This is located in Dalat and is a favorite among tourists who want to get some peace and quite. This is also a favorite spot of honeymooners as they stroll hand in hand along the banks of the lake. Thung Lung Tinh Yeu is called the Valley of Love and is also popular among honeymooners. This is a wonderful place if you enjoy canyoning. If you have canyoning in mind, then this is the place for you as they have canyoning operators as well who will guide you on your trip.

Ho Chi Minh City was popularly known as Saigon. Here, you will get to see a lot of fascinating places such as the Reunification Palace of the Independence Palace. There is also the War Remnants Museum as well as the Museum of Vietnamese History if you want to know more about the history and culture of Vietnam.

Once you want to invest in energy production in Japan, you should find out the Japanese market. Because Japan is extremely well populated, it is sometimes more difficult to break the Japanese market than you would break any other market. If you are nonetheless capable to exploit installations near the shore or maybe offshore installations, then you could have the possibility to make a profit out of wind energy. However, when going offshore for the business, it becomes more expensive, due to the existence of construction of foundations. The wind is also stronger and this can amount to higher costs. The equipment you will need will also need to be updated constantly because technology advances by the day. Therefore, the prices per kilowatt hour has decreased, since the turbines have become more efficient. Therefore, if comparing wind energy with other types of energy nowadays, this industry of wind energy is one of the most competitive. Therefore, you need to be able to utilize locations near the sea, where there is a lot of wind and then maintain a competitive prices comparable to the prices in the other industries.

In Japan, there is the sense that people need to be able to produce their own energy because it is imperative that they don’t use imported energy. Therefore, despite being isolated on an island, there is the need to start producing energy, but with so few natural resources it is almost impossible. Therefore, Japan needs to invest in energy production and become overt to foreign investment seeking to implement their solutions in Japan. It is only through this method that Japan will be able to become energy independent. By allowing companies such as Vestas in the involvement of research, Japan is extending the ways it is actively seeking for energy production. Wind produced energy represents probably, one of the most successful competitors so far.

Moreover, energy production under the name of microhydoelectric power has become to catch as a trend in the Japanese world; because Japan is home to a large number of rivers as well as mountain streams, these are ideal places to install microhydoelectric plants, to produce energy from the water. This move has been known as the technology development of industrial and new energy technology. To make a comparison, the label named minihydroelectric power can accommodate more than one thousand kilowatts per electrical energy. Therefore, as a conclusion, the power plants, both mini as well as micro hydroelectric power at a small scale have become suitable to create electricity in high-altitude regions, in mountainous regions. These power plants possess certain characteristics and have been involved so far so that the hydroelectric technology can be developed in Japan.

eCommerce in India is estimated to be around $1.9 billion by the year end of 2008, according to eMarketer with 66% growth from 2007. Though these figures look good on paper, but when compared with some of the Asian counterparts, they are not encouraging. The eCommerce growth in India is being hindered by various drawbacks and bottlenecks.

Computer Illiteracy: Only 65 million people are computer literates in India as of September, 2007, according to eMarketer. Here, computer literates mean people who can operate or use a computer without any aid. The number is too small for a country with a population of over 1.1 billion and out of those 64.5% are literate as on 2007. That means the percent of people who can operate computer are just above 10% of the total literates.

Poor PC Penetration: India has only 36 PCs for every 1000 people as of 2007 according to Gartner. This is one of the lowest in the Asia-Pacific region where India stood at 49th position after the countries like China with 122 PCs, Philippines with 89, Vietnam with 78 and Indonesia with 37. Affordability and lack of awareness among the common people are the main reasons for these discouraging figures.

Low Internet Penetration: Internet penetration is only 5.3% as of 2007, according to InternetWorldStats, which is again one of the lowest among the other Asian countries. When it comes to the number of Internet subscriptions, India has 11.09 million subscriptions as on March, 2008, according to TRAI. It is also noted that the growth rate of the Internet subscriptions is decreased by 0.56% when it is compared to the previous quarter.

Poor Broadband Connectivity: According to the latest TRAI’s report, there are nearly 4.15 million broadband subscriptions in India as of May, 2008. The broadband penetration rate is a mere 2.65%, which is far less than the comparable China which has 14.35% of penetration. In 2007, the broadband policy released by GOI has set a target to achieve 20 million broadband users by 2010. India has a lot of catching to do even to reach at least 75% of this target.

Expensive Broadband: Broadband rates in India are relatively high when compared to US and UK. The Indian ISPs charge from 47% to 56% of the per capita income for a broadband connection of 512KB speed, which is 6 times slower and 25 to 50 percent costlier than in US. ISPs in India are irresponsible and are indulged in high profiteering rather than providing better broadband connectivity to the last mile.

Whether in the consumer products or manufacyuring industry, Asia is the market which many keen investors have their eyes trained on.

Experts warn that despite the overall positive outlook on the Asian investment market, investors should be selective as to where they put their money. Predictions and valuations can be stretched and sometimes the expectations are unrealistic. In 2006, Credit Suisse said that the market for investment continues to offer incredibly profitable and positive opportunities. It is reported, then, that the world can expect a consistent growth in the Asian market for the next three to four years from 2006…Thus,investment opportunities in the Asian countries continue to be aplenty.

Governments in countries like Japan, China and India have shifted their focus from consuming imported goods to exploiting local and domestic products, thereby helping to boost their local economies. This has given small, growing companies in these Asian countries room and opportunity for growth…from the investor’s point of view, this is extremely good news. The Asian economy is set for robust growth and expansion in the long run which providing lucrative returns for foreign investors.

Countries like China, India, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan have sent many unknowing stock market players into silence in recent years because of the dramatic rise in their economic conditions. Each of these countries presents different investment opportunities for investors and the range of their expertise has narrowed down. While some people would argue that Asian investment in China and India would be the most lucrative, others would prefer to techno-friendly countries like Korea, Taiwan and Japan where they already have a strong following for their electronic products and gaming technology as well as household products. Japan and Korea looks to be nose-to-nose for the communications sector too, so, in the near future, the pendulum could swing either way, depending on the number of foreign investors and growth of their domestic markets.

While the US market limps back to health, investors from other parts of the world, particularly countries in Europe, Canada and Australia are eyeing potentially profitable long-term partnerships with companies from these countries. US consumers are generally swallowed by the grave need to save money and reduce the cost of living, the Asian and European market continues to stride ahead. Not long ago, the US market determines the performance of other markets, particularly Asia. But now,the reverse are true. As long as the US market continues to post health growth and do not suffer prolong recession, Asia will continue to grow and provide foreign investors with many investment opportunities.

Before you set out for that holiday or business trip to the South East Asian region, be aware that there are some cultural issues that may impact on your experience. None of these are frightening or off-putting in a big way, just good to know about and expect. Forewarned is forearmed as they say.

So what does this saving face mean? It means that when people deal with each other there is a greatly heightened awareness and priority on avoiding a perception of embarrassment or humiliation. This applies to you and to the other parties involved. An example would be a conversation between a student and their teacher. The teacher explains a process, and the student does not understand. In the west this would not be a very big deal at all. The student would be happy to, (and in fact be expected to), alert the teacher that they did not understand, and ask for it to be explained in a different way.

In the South East Asian countries of say Thailand or Indonesia, this type of situation would need to be handled carefully. From the students perspective, they firstly would not want to appear slow or inattentive, and may have an issue in asking for a clarification in the class environment. Also, as they would hold their teacher in high esteem, they would definitely not want to allude that they lacked the skills to explain things clearly. From the teachers perspective, they may find it difficult to accept a student expressing confusion in the classroom.

So in these countries, the student may well hold their tongue and either ask a fellow student, or seek to speak to their teacher in private later.

Another issue on this region that visitors may come across is etiquette at religious places. The term for a temple in Buddhist countries such as Thailand and Cambodia is Wat. When visiting a Wat, be sure to dress conservatively. There is no need to be formal, but please do not go in beach clothes or your short disco dress! Additionally, you will inevitably see a collection of shoes at the door. This is simply as the correct etiquette is to take your footwear off before entering. So if you are planning a day of serious temple visiting, a good tip is not to wear lace up shoes. You will find yourself exhausted by the end of the day if you do.
